Katherine qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and is currently an Associate Solicitor with Weightmans LLP. Katherine specialises in all types of Industrial Disease litigation and particularly high value, asbestos related matters. Katherine has been the Chair of the Equality and Diversity sub committee for approximately 18 months. In her spare time, Katherine enjoys reading and attending the theatre.
Christl Hughes is a past President of Leicestershire Law Society and was elected Chair of SBA -The Solicitors’ Charity in 2015. A past Chairwoman of the former national Association of Women Solicitors she remains on the committee of Association of Women Solicitors, London. Her other current roles include Legal Consultant and Trustee for the Gender Identity Research & Education Society and East Midlands Area Representative on the national Law Society Council Membership Committee. Her hobbies include walking and reading novels.
Ranjit Thaliwal is a specialist Mental Health lawyer who qualified in 1993 and has extensive experience in the Mental Health law field both forensic and non-forensic matters.
He was shortlisted in the National Law Society Awards – Solicitor of the Year Private Practice category in October 2014 as well as being President of the Leicestershire Law Society between May 2013 through to May 2014.
Previously he has been Leicestershire Law Society Solicitor of the Year and shortlisted in the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards in the category of Mental Health law.
He is a founding member of the Midlands Asian Lawyers Association and he remains committed to raising awareness and fundraising in the Mental Health law sphere.
