Nomination & Rules

1. Please submit specific achievements relating to the nominee’s career, paying particular attention to the criteria for the award. CVs will not be accepted.

2. Self-nomination is not allowed for the individual awards (Solicitor/Junior Solicitor/Trainee/Paralegal/Barrister).Please note that it is acceptable to have your name put forward for nomination by someone and for you to complete the form and provide supporting evidence.

3. It is acceptable for a nomination to come from another member of the nominee’s firm.

4. Recommendations and testimonials from others are acceptable and can be sent with the nomination for the individual or firm. (Maximum 3)

5. Organisations can nominate themselves for Firm/Chambers of the year.

6. Nominees are judged by their achievements in the category for which they have been nominated.

7. For all awards, achievements outside of the category will be taken into account, including non-legal work, contributions to the community and pro bono work so long as they are detailed in the application form and evidence provided.

8. Multiple entries are permitted i.e. can enter in more than one category.

9. The decision of the judging panel is at its absolute discretion and it is final. There is no right of appeal against any decision.

10. The judging panel will not be able to provide feedback at any stage of the judging process.

11. In judging, the judges will use their skills and judgement, considering information that is put to them in the nomination form and supporting documentation, their knowledge and experience of the legal profession and of the wider community.

12. Judges may interview nominees as part of the judging process. This will be the exception and not the rule. If an interview is considered necessary, a minimum of 3 judges will conduct the interview virtually.

13. It is not permitted to publish or promote details of awards unless an individual or organisation is a winner of a category.

14. Nominations which exceed the word limit will not be accepted.

15. Appendices and any other additional materials will not be accepted.

16. The presentations to all finalists will take place at the Legal Awards Dinner, date to be announced.

17. All finalists will be invited to attend (at their own cost) and will be given priority ticket allocation.

18. Closing date for nominations is 4th February 2022.

19. All nominations are treated as entirely confidential.

20. Declarations on the application form confirming information is true and accurate must be signed in order to submit a valid application.
