It's just impossible to keep up to date in the crucial areas of criminal law and costs, as doing so is virtually a full-time job in itself and there would be little time left over for client care and fee earning. Fortunately the presenter is a criminal lawyer, who is now a consultant, and has both the time and the inclination to read all the relevant Commencement Orders etc. etc.
This one-day course giving six CPD points will concentrate on the following areas:
- Defendants Costs Orders and means testing for Crown Court legal aid - the very latest
- The relevant provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 and the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 which are now in force
- The new Policing and Crime Act 2009 and The Coroners and Justice Act 2009
- What's new at the police station - R. v. Essa, R. v. Mohammed, R. v. Cowper and all other relevant recent Case Law
- The new Youth Rehabilitation Orders effective 30th of November 2009
- Drinking Banning Orders, Violent Offender Orders, Individual Support Orders and their impact when advising clients in criminal cases
- The very latest from the Sentencing Guidelines Council - fraud, attempted murder etc. etc
- 100 things that criminal practitioners should be aware of now (with written answers provided)
If you feel that you are being left behind, this is the course that will put you back on track, at the least for the time being.
