- Six years of training before qualifying
The training which is needed for an individual to qualify as a solicitor is laid down by an Act of Parliament along with statutory regulations. An individual wishing to become a solicitor will have spent at least three years gaining a university degree, followed by a year at 'Law School' and two additional years in a solicitors practise as a trainee.
Upon qualification solicitors continue their learning through the compulsory completion of 16 hours of Continual Professional Development (CPD) each year.
